A 36-year-old woman was reportedly kidnapped, raped, and chained up in a house for days before being rescued by a good Samaritan who heard her screams for help.

Antoine Dobine said he was walking near 119th Street and Eggleston Avenue on Saturday, May 21, on Chicago’s South Side when he heard the victim’s cries. Dobine said he asked the woman if there was anyone in there with her, and he called 911. Police arrived at the scene and “said her legs were chained and her hands were handcuffed.”

The victim, who remained unnamed, said she ran into the suspect while walking to the store and he told her to “come here for a minute.” He allegedly grabbed her then took her to the abandoned home on Eggleston Avenue. The victim says the man put her in the basement and then took her up to the attic of the home and raped her twice.

She was reportedly chained up in the home for four to five days.

The victim was taken to the hospital for evaluation and praised Dobine for finding her.

She said, “He could have ignored me, but he heard me and he helped me.”

Reports say the victim is homeless and is known around the neighborhood. One neighbor said the home where she was found has been vacant for 25 years.
